Terry and Brandon are such nice blokes,I’ve been very nervous in my home but they helped put me at ease. They explained what they were going to do and what each piece of equipment was for. When the investigation first started,I was quite scared and worried about what was going to happen. There was some very strange occurrences, batteries that were charged to 100% suddenly going flat, equipment that was plugged into the mains switching itself off. Other things happened that confirmed what I already knew, our litttle girl is being watched over by a loved one in spirit. Thanks so much guys,I’m still a little bit nervous but more relaxed thanks to your expertise and professionalism.

Re: Paranormal investigations in the Hatton Gallery, Newcastle upon Tyne 18-19 December 2015.

In a recent article in The Times it was stated that scientists worldwide were fond of quoting from the songs of Bob Dylan in their academic papers. 'Something is happening here but you don't know what it is' seems an apt quote for what I experienced in the Hatton Gallery on the  18th and 19th of December.

The Gateshead Paranormal Society had been invited to conduct an experiment in the room housing Kurt Schwitters' Merz Barn wall. They came equipped with an array of impressive looking equipment which they claimed able to detect the presence of paranormal activity; though they did not guarantee results.

Though highly sceptical I thought it would be interesting to witness an event which in its quasi scientific/art performance feel could be, in a way, analagous to the spirit of DaDa and Merz. Having said that, I attended with very low expectations.

The first session took place on Friday 18 December between 5.00 pm and 6.00 pm. My low expectations were fully confirmed as there was no discernable paranormal or unusual activity.

The following day, Saturday 19 December, a second session took place which gave rise to some, on the face of it, inexplicable activity. A piece of equipment described by the Paranormal Society as able to detect the presence of paranormal energy began to operate indicated by flashing lights.

It seems to me that there are three possible explanations for the equipment being activated:

1. Someone was manipulating it remotely. I saw no evidence of this. The three members of the society remained in my sight  during the whole of the activity.

2. Electrical interference from the gallery electrical circuits. I find this unlikely as the equipment remained 'dormant' throughout the first session and only seemed to activate in response to a playback of Schwitters' Ursonate sound poem. I rule out interference from the mobile phone used to play the recording as further attempts over the course of approximately an hour failed to activate the equipment.

3. The presence of some sort of paranormal activity as claimed by the Paranormal Society.

In addition another piece of equipment, designed to scan at high speed across a spectrum of radio waves, produced a series of single spoken words in response to questions. The list of words appeared to me to be entirely random.

My advice to the Paranormal Society, for what it is worth, is to invite a scientist or engineer to  repeat the experiment using the society's  equipment in order to rule out rational explanations for the events witnessed.

I await with interest the outcome from the approximately forty hours of overnight recordings from the tripod mounted and hand held cameras. The Gateshead Paranormal Society's dedication is impressive. I have no reason to suspect that they are anything other than honest in their  experiments and presentation of evidence.

In conclusion, I left the  the Hatton Gallery, to quote the words of another song, if not 'Bewitched' certainly 'Bothered and Bewildered'.

Best wishes and thanks for a fascinating experience.

My partner and me contacted Gateshead Paranormal Society as we had experienced a number of things at different properties, from smells coming out of nowhere to my partner being physically harmed. Terry and the guys came out and were extremely professional, and we instantly felt comfortable around them. They were highly considerate of the fact that our two youngest children were asleep upstairs and made every effort to not disturb them, and the kids weren't disturbed at all. We did have a few things happen while the team were here and we were really impressed with how they conducted the investigation. We are really grateful to them for their help because now we know there is definitely something with us. Thanks again guys. You're more than welcome to investigate here again.

I contacted Gateshead paranormal team for help and advice, For years strange things were happening, My youngest son Jack from the age of 3 was talking about a grumpy old man and recently saying about a young girl dressed in white. My friends granddaughter who also had seen them but neither her or Jack talked to each other about it, I would hear  foot steps on  the stairs, see a dark shadow and someone walk in my bedroom. I would Come down in the morning and find cupboards open. The guys were brilliant had few meetings and discussions and tried to de - bunk what was happening. Even on the day of a meeting there was a bang sound. The night time investigation was very active. Plenty happened and heard through the equipment. I was shocked to experience so much when I was not even sure if they would get anything. There is going to be a follow up investigation  as we have recently had some major work done to the house and whilst the work was on going things increased. Like boxes being pushed  over and loud bangs.  I Would highly recommend these guys. many thanks

When Gateshead Paranormal set up for the night I knew they meant business. The whole house was rigged up with technology to the point you couldn’t miss a mouses thought. The results we got from their equipment was amazing. Thanks to the team for an entertaining night by catching some outstanding results.

Re: Paranormal investigations in the Hatton Gallery, Newcastle

upon Tyne, at the site of artist Kurt Schwitters’ relocated Merz

Barn wall (1947), 18-19 December 2015.

For several years I’ve made an academic study of Schwitters’ Merz relief,

saved from decay in its original Westmorland barn setting and re-sited by

Newcastle University at the Hatton Gallery in 1966. As an aside from my

usual art historical interests, and bearing in mind that Schwitters was

loosely associated with the bizarre early twentieth century art movement

known as Dada (described by one of its artists as “both buffoonery and a

requiem mass”, with its centenary early in 2016), I’d asked the Gateshead

Paranormal Society if they would conduct a two-day investigation before

Kurt Schwitters’ iconic artwork: initially with some scepticism on my part,

but imagining that the investigation might be an apt accompaniment and

celebration of the anarchic ‘spirit’ of Dada (and Merz).

The outcomes of the Paranormal Society’s experiments were unexpected

and quite extraordinary. During two sessions, over two days, they

conducted themselves in a most professional way, assisted by an

impressive array of sensory electronics, audio and visual recorders and

night vision equipment. Day one proved somewhat disappointing, with no

recorded results. Undeterred, the Society persisted into day two. The

suggestion that a recording of Schwitters’ 1922-32 sound poem Ursonate

should be regularly played produced instant, remarkable, inexplicable and

spine tingling results. For perhaps thirty minutes, maybe as a response to

the ‘primeval sonata’, the Society’s equipment became ‘alive’ with sensory

responses, audio and visual signals. Then, just as suddenly, all

transmissions ceased. Absolutely, utterly extraordinary!

As a consequence of this investigation at the Hatton Gallery, the

Paranormal Society now has approximately 40 hours of night vision video

footage to analyse (having used 3 cameras), in addition the daytime video

and audio recordings. To do so will take several weeks. The outcomes will

be collated and hopefully put into the public domain to coincide with

Dada’s centenary in February 2016. The Gateshead Paranormal Society is

a wholly dedicated, trustworthy, and up-front team. They promised no

results, but we’re left with something rather extraordinary, and perhaps

inexplicable.

With many thanks!!
